Maybe it's just me...

I'm sick of this obsession with the unholy trinity of Lohan, Spears and Hilton. When has any of these 3 bimbos done anything relevant besides getting hammered at a club and getting their picture taken with their dress over their head, with their bid'ness out there for the whole world to see. I personally could care less about any of these idiots stints at rehab, jail or whatever...hopefully, this to will pass, like the kidney stone festering in my ureter right now...

But Whatever....

I wanted to riff a little on the present state of music, but I really can't do that without sharing some of my favorite albums with the masses out there (or even the 3 or 4 people that read my little how ya doin) so here they are with my crappy comments. These are in no specific order, but these albums are in heavy rotation on my Ipod:

U2 - October: I absolutely think that U2 are the biggest sell-outs in music today, but that fact doesn't affect my opinion that this album is chock full of brilliance. When I first heard this record as a Junior in high school (yes, I'm that freaking old), I thought there wasn't a bad track on the record. Today, I think that Fire and I threw a brick through a window didn't stand the test of time. I listen to the live version of "Gloria" from the Live at Red Rocks record at least once a week. Too bad that Bono's hair plugs, green sunglasses and his penchant to stay relevant have ruined the groups music.

AGT's FInal 4; Because Ventriloquists have stolen my smile

I'm Mike Rose and THIS is America's got Talent's subversive underbelly, telling the truth, when the judges absolutely have given up on judging.

First of all, a few comments on the show and formatics:
- Call me a goofball, but I really dug the fact that they called out the finalists as the show went on, and kept everyone hanging til' the end for the last 2 weeks. It adds to the suspense and as in last night's show's case, exposes the remaining contestants for the buttholes that they are. Watching Sidecrap and Julienne Irwin, not being their usual phony smiling selves was rewarding in a sick kind of way for me.
- I really felt, with the exception of Julienne Irwin, that the right 4 folks advanced, although really none of the eliminated acts, The Glamazons, Jason Pritchett, Robert Hatcher and Sideswipe were any better than her, she immediately turned on her phony "you really like me" smile, perfected by Melinda Doolittle last year..and I remembered why I didn't want her to advance.
- Robert Hatcher is a classy guy, and I think he's got a nice voice, but honestly, he feels like he is going to get signed, but I'm not on that train. He will get some initial interest from someone, but he's not polished enough to make any money doing this.

AGT: The Final 8...Or, You can get over if you put a hot chick in the Hoff's Lap

This week was, well to put it mildly....Weak.

The theme was personal heroes which the producers hope will start some good wetworks and juicy backstories, nothing doing, though watching the sideswipe guy cry about his Sensei, was really moving...haw.

They started the show with all 10 of the competitors from last week and called out the performers to do their act right on the spot, so each group needed to have a number ready. Left out in the cold this week were The Calypso Tumblers and The Duttons. I really felt bad for the Tumblers even though I am not a fan of street acts, because I thought they were scads better then their main competitors, Sideswipe; who tried cheap pop politics (the kids included in their act) to get over and it worked. Hopefully, Karma catches up to the Karate Chippendales douchebags and they are eliminated when 4 acts are cut next week. The Dutton's being cut loose didn't bother me, although I would have preferred Jason Pritchett being gone. I don't feel sorry for them, because they are a Tailor-Made saccharine opening act for John Davidson at the Yo-Yo Ma theater in Branson Missouri.
That being said, Let's get right to the rankings. Remember, 4 acts are being let go before the show next week, so this week's performances are VERY important.

SYTYC freaking Dance show report and my Crotchety 43 year old Comments

Decent show last night, nothing earth shattering, but still fairly entertaining. A few ill-advised numbers, a couple of flat out fumbles on the dancers part and a number so hot, I had to go dive in the pool.

What was good:
-Sara and Danny's Argentine Tango was fantastic just based on Danny's lines alone. The guy is an absolute freak of a technical dancer and can pirouette himself into oblivion. He was so fantastic that it didn't bother me that he didn't look comfortable dancing with a girl. Mary and Nigel didn't like the number, but whatever, seeing danny uncork like this is a pleasure....good stuff.

-I dug the dickens out of Dominic and Lauren's Rumba (not really a rumba..in the techinical sense, but whatever) it was good and the chemistry between the two of them was HOT!! They kissed at the end and it looked spontaneous...that is awesome. I really thing that Dominic might have saved himself this week now that the judges have no say in who goes home (or do they...).

-I'm definately NOT a big fan of Sabra's by any stretch of the imagination, but the quickstep that Pasha and Sabra did was the best partnered dance number of the night and maybe the whole season. The Judges liked it too.

America’s Got Talent? (AGT’s Final 10)

Yeah, you read it right….I’m not sure more than 3 of the final 10 are ready for Late Night TV, much less Prime Time. The show last night was pretty much crappy, if not totally buggered from front to back with bad, clichéd and unprofessional performances.

I hope next week is better, but hope is about all I have to go on. I have decided to evaluate each act based on Professionalism, Basic Performance and Look. I am ranking them from 1st (Best) to 10th (Worst). Here we go:

1)	Cas Haley – Cas is without a doubt the best musician on the show and his take on the blues was darn good, however, I really prefer the stripped down reggae/ska type thing that he was doing early in the season with just him and his guitar. He will make it through this week, but really, I’m not sure he can win.
2)	Terry Fator – The dude is a talented ventriloquist ….Piers said he is the best ventriloquist he’s ever seen, but I mean, has the guy seen Paul Winchell, Señor Wences or Willie Tyler? I mean really, the guy is a great singer, but he doesn’t tell jokes so it really kind of kills the whole ventriloquism gimmick. I don’t know, I hope he does something funny, puppets shouldn’t make you cry….
