"Swan Song"

Okay, people! This commentary is special, because, well, it is. I’m doing it, all alone, in the living room without any interruption! Kind of awkward, but cool, because I’m on OLC simultaneously, a feat I’d never think possible… I’m also making ravioli. Long story. Anyway, this one’s all about “Swan Song”… Luke and Jess at their best.

1) Rory and Lorelai are at Friday Night Dinner, and Emily astutely recognizes that Rory has broken up with Dean. Then she pries until she shanghais Jess into FND. She’s got this weird ability to convince people to do things.
2) Lorelai and Rory arrange their schedules, but Lorelai can’t seem to read her own writing on the post-it notes. Uh, story of my life. I lose things, and I am unable to read my own handwriting.
3) Jess and Rory discuss Friday Night Dinner, and Rory kisses Jess and loans him a book to get him to agree. Uh, Jess’s comment about how the Gilmores think so highly of themselves? Priceless. I laughed my butt off.
4) Miss Patty tries some new material out on Rory, Dean, and some other townies. Well, Kirk is the director, which makes it way funnier. It’s all too hysterical. The strobe lights? So Kirk.
5) Awkward moment ensues when Rory finds Lorelai making out with Alex. Yeah, awkward. They want a system… personally, the “Hey, I’m necking out here” is funniest in my mind.
6) Luke walks in periodically on Jess and Rory, who Lorelai caught making out. Uh, yeah, ironic. Also, Luke’s protectiveness and Lorelai’s comment about how long it took to create Rory… brilliant. Luke’s face was so… haha.
7) Lorelai freaks out because she isn’t having a packing crisis. Usually, if you’re prone to packing crises, that’s a good thing, but Lorelai’s Lorelai. If I were her, I’d freak if I didn’t have a crisis. Then she talks to Rory about where she and Jess were headed. Interesting… of course Rory claims she’s got too much on her mind to be thinking about it. Smooth.
8) Emily is already seeming very calm and collected about the whole Jess situation. Even though he’s late and he has a black eye. Rory, of course, is suspicious of what happened. Emily seems to be (outwardly) oblivious to it all, and Rory, on the other hand, isn’t. Scandal at the Gilmore home! And Jess in this scene says he’s a carnivore, which is funny, because Milo’s apparently a vegetarian.
9) Lorelai and Sookie write their own musical. Well, a piece of it. I want to write one. I do everyday, saying what I’m doing… “I’m putting it a-wayyyy!” (I’m scary.)
10) Jess leaves and Rory stays the night at the grandparents house… and Lorelai reaches her the next day and Emily gives her an earful. Of course, Lorelai holds the phone away, which she’s an expert at. I wish I’d have been gifted with that ability.
11) Dave finds Mrs. Kim, and attempts to pass the band off as a combo, a Christian combo. Mrs. Kim warns Dave about Lane’s crush on him. It’s all so funny, because the looks on Zach and Brian’s faces are great. Awesome.
12) Rory goes to Dean and asks him about Jess’s black eye. I love how Dean is always seen as more trustworthy… but he ends up being a jerk and a cheater in the end. I don’t like Dean, can we tell?
13) Luke pulls Jess aside and demands to know where he got the black eye. Jess admits it was a swan that attacked him and rushes off to return the favor. However, he takes Luke’s good ladle. Luke protests, asking him to take the baster. Uh, hello. Basters aren’t deadly like ladles!!!
14) Luke teases Jess about the swan in the boat on the lake. He also gives Jess valuable advice about Rory… he should know, he’s obsessed with Lorelai. Just a thought.
15) Zach attempts to out Lane and Dave, but Zach thinks it’s all because Dave’s a secret Christian. “We’re not playing Creed!” Hey, I love Creed.
16) Rory and Lorelai discuss “it” one more time. Rory admits she’s thought about “it” and will talk to Lorelai before “it” happens. And Lorelai’s freaking out inside, I know it.

On to “Face off”!!!
