"Happy Birthday, Baby"

The second-to-last commentary today. Haha, by the end of the day, I will have seen 5 episodes of Gilmore Girls. Sweet. This one’s “Happy Birthday, Baby.”

1) Richard is serving his grandmother’s specialty, Johnny Machete. Well, anything with the word Machete in it should be… rather interesting. Rory breaks the news to the grandparents, who are really freakishly quiet… until they finally cave. I like Lorelai’s necklace in that scene.
2) Lorelai’s freaking out about the inn, until Tobin shows up, much to Michel’s chagrin. See, Tobin’s entertaining. I love Tobin. But if it were to come down to Michel and Tobin, I’d pick Michel. Tobin gives Lorelai a cappuccino scented candle, which Lorelai loves. The heat is on.
3) Lorelai goes through the house, allowing Rory to make a list for Luke… who has offered his services for 5 hours of handiwork for Lorelai’s birthday… and Rory wants Luke to make her a floral bookshelf. I can only imagine. But the sweet thing is that Luke will do everything on the list.
4) “Birthday Week”… a great concept. I really think that I’m going to use that concept. They have plenty of exciting things planned, especially Sephora! I love Sephora!
5) Richard calls Lorelai to make a lunch date for the next day. Lorelai questions it, but finally agrees.
6) Rory orders a cake for Lorelai, with tons of frosting (also my favorite part), and Lane breaks the news to Rory that the world’s largest pizza was too big… and they debate the music selection, which, apparently is getting slim.
7) Luke makes an oompa-loompa joke! I LOVE THE OOMPA LOOMPAS! AND I love Luke, so by extension, I love the joke.
8) Luke is shanghaied into meeting Nicole’s parents. And he’s extremely nervous about it. So, what does he do? He stalks Jess for a moment, realizing that he did skip school to work. Luke’s “I can’t believe this” face is hysterical. I really think it’s all too funny. He convinced himself that everything was okay…
9) Paris pierced her nose! But she was allergic to the ring. So, her nose swelled up and Paris was forced to go to the emergency room… all because of Rory’s sweet suggestion. Rory gets a phone call at school on her cell phone, but uh, I couldn’t even do that! They couldn’t see a cell phone before they took it.
10) Luke arrives, and Lorelai asks him where the French Maid outfit was. He says it’s on under the flannel… and then Lorelai grabs a Mallomar and talks to Luke like he should totally understand the entire thing. Not to mention that Luke effortlessly pulls out the spoon from the garbage disposal, and he makes a dirty joke AND recognizes it himself! Wow, he’s getting good. But he will never understand Lorelai…
11) Jackson approaches Rory and asks her why Sookie wasn’t consulted on this whole thing. We all know that Rory didn’t do any of this on purpose, she was just attempting to do nice things for Lorelai. I feel bad… because Rory isn’t vindictive and evil.
12) Richard shows up late to lunch, but makes up with it for a check for $75,000. It was from an investment that a road was being built through. And apparently those Jimmy Choo shoes are really expensive.
13) The giant macaroni and cheese bowl in the middle of the table looks really good right now. Anyway, despite the tiaras, Pete has bad news for Rory that Kirk caused the pizza debacle that left him burned. Who wouldn’t think that… duh.
14) Luke confronts Jess about the work situation, but the funny thing is about the cleaned up version of the Eminem Show album. Haha, I don’t even like Eminem, but it’s really funny. Jess insists that he’s going enough, but we all know that’s not true.
15) Michel is jealous of Tobin, so he gives Lorelai a book from Madrid… but Tobin one-ups Michel by giving Lorelai the jacket that the guy from the Clash wore. And now “Should I Stay or Should I Go” is in my head… thanks, Tobin!
16) Jess is on Luke’s mind during his meeting with Nicole’s parents, who are initially very nice, but when he rants about Jess… they don’t like that so much. I would have like, yelled at the parents… but Emily and Richard aren’t exactly easy to get along with anyway.
17) Rory refuses the idea of a pizza doily/collage. She insists that she gets a large pizza, not Gangs of New York remade… and Kirk goes nuts attempting to fathom the reference. That’s Kirk for ya.
18) Luke “stole” Jess’s car…
19) Lorelai pays the parents back, causing a huge rift. There was already a rift… because the parents gave away Murray, Lorelai’s bunny. But obviously that makes them angry. So, Rory and Lorelai talk about it on the way to Lorelai’s amazing party.

A real blog entry coming! After "Keg! Max!"
