What happens next? PART ONE (Judgement Call) #1-23
TV SHOW: NUMB3RS
EPISODE: 2x01 (Judgement Call)
----
#1-The episode starts with a woman who is driving along her street. She's listening to an oldies song, to which the name and singer escape me at this moment. She nods to someone, probably a neighbor who's jogging along before pulling into her own driveway, opening the garage door and shutting it. In the window of the car in comes to light that there's a pass for a federal district judge, Franklin Trelane.
#2-And what this lady wasn't expecting was for someone to be waiting dormant in the garage as she unbuckles her seatbelt, only to have four shots fired--one through the passenger window and two through the driver's side.
#3-Later the owner of the car, who is identified as Franklin Trelane, arrived home somewhere around a half an hour ago from a middle of a trial with gang bangers, after being informed of his wife's murder. The team figures that the killer was waiting, and might have been surprised by the wife's arrival. They have also ruled that the killer was also doing some premeditation. And now they just need to figure out who the target was: the wife, or the judge?
#4-Although we see that it most likely the judge now that was being targeted, the list of suspects are not just inclination to act upon retaliation from whoever was convicted by the judge, but the suspect list includes friends, family members and co-conspirators.
#5-Charlie wants to narrow down the search of suspects with a basic formula. Have to love how he always finds his theories in something. Like this time, he asks Megan if she ever gets spam--she does-- so he compares how a spam filter by e-mails that includes words such as 'refinance', 'stocks' even 'Viagra'
#6-Charlies gets to work while Megan, David, and Colby learn that Franklin Trelane has been on the bench for eighteen years, twelve years prior to being a federal prosecutor.
#7-Don goes to visit Franklin Trelane. Of course Trelane is having grief over the decisions he made in the courtroom, as he believes that one of those decisions killed his wife Allison.
#8-David and Colby then go to visit a man in jail they believe fits the motive behind the murder of Allison Trelane. The man's name is Danny (Duc La Phan). In turn that man gives a name, Raymond Hmong, his #2 man. Claims that he's had some beefs with Raymond since being locked up.
#9- Don sees an old friend, possibly old flame. Nadine. He tells her he's at the courthouse because he's investigating the murder of Franklin Trelane's wife. They talk about Duc La Phan (Danny) a bit and how he would definitely be violent enough to be behind something like that, since Franklin was the presiding judge.
#10-Nadine asks Don if he's had lunch yet. She's about to ask him if he would like to join her, when the elevator opens and out pops Charlie. He's been looking for Don so that he can ask for a ride home. Apparently Charlie has been at the DMV trying to get back his license, again. Don apologizes and introduces Charlie to Nadine Hodges.
#11-David and Colby visit Raymond. He acts innocent and asks why he would want to kill the judge's wife. David warns Raymond to have his pals to back up or they would all get bullet holes in their heads if Raymond didn't cooperate. It took some coaxing but he finally complied. David then warns him before he leaves that the smart thing to do would be to cooperate.
#12-After that David walks out of there in a huff. Colby tries to talk to him about knowing that David is the senior agent but also knows that David could have also backed him up on the plan. David in turn saying something about that when you try to arrest them, they're all going to want to fight.
#13-Enter: Larry, Amita and Alan (and of course Charlie :D). You've got to love Larry with all his interesting introspects. Charlie talks to Alan about Nadine Hodges, a possible love interest for Don. Of course Larry has this theory about 'reading signals' also including in his fifth grade crush, Rhonda Pickford, who apparently became a professional cheerleader.
#14- David complains to Don about how Colby had heated up Raymond. Colby comes in and David covers for their talk that Don wanted them to go check out some gang intel. That wasn't exactly necessary as the fact that Colby had just figured out that there had been during May 2001 and June 2003 that there had been at least five domestic disturbances at the Trelane residence.
They had been looking at the case all wrong.
#15- Of course he was a federal judge, so like he said when Don paid Franklin another little visit after they realized that Franklin had neglected to mention the disturbances. Franklin responsed to Don with 'That's what it was, history.' Allison was the one that had called the police, and the one that had left which was suddenly a wake up call to Franklin Trelane.
#16- Megan finally appears again.
She's visiting Charlie at CalSci about the case. I love how she stresses that it took her to two days to put all the files they were going through, into chronological order, yet Charlie tries to talk her out of thinking that it didn't matter about the order, basically trying to describe his reasoning in theory talk, and then proceeded to demonstrate by using origami.
#17-Charlie makes her a flower, while describing how each piece in origami factors into his theory. She then gets a call from David telling her that JF, Raymond's group, might take a shot at the judge. Don basically tells Nadine that he's going to help watch out for her, as she is a possible target in all this.
#18- David and Nadine walk out of the FBI building as well Franklin, another police officer and Duc (Danny). A motorcycle approaches and begins shooting at them.A car sidetracks the man on the motorcycle a bit, causing him to have to turn and he flips his bike out into the middle of the street.
#19- It's apparent that the man is jolted somewhat, but still tries to reach for his gun that has been knocked slightly out of reach. Don approaches him, along with another police officer before the man can get it--and Don uncovers the identity of the motorcyclist by pulling off his helmet. It's Raymond.
#20- And he's still using the approach that he didn't murder anyone. It comes out that the bullet was for Danny.
#21- Never knew that Amita was into Astrophysics.
Charlie: "Amita isn't just satisfied with one measly PHD. She's moved on to Astrophysics."
Megan: "Ah hah...well the girl's have got to have skills."
Amita: "And yet somehow we still get stuck with the typing."
#22-Larry's slightly taken by Megan when Charlie introduces him. And in his hand is a plate of white foods.
Charlie: "Professor Fleinhardt, this is Megan Reeves, she's working with Don.
Larry: Uh, hi.Hope I'm not interrupting anything.
Megan: Oh no, not at all. You do realize that all your food is white?
Larry: Mm...yeah, I prefer white food.
#23-I never caught this before but I just realized that Megan mentioned that she had a two year old nephew.
Megan: "Yeah, I have a two year old nephew, who won't eat anything but pasta and butter. We're a little worried that he's becoming a budding scientist."
Nice first impression Megan :p
