Down Memory Lane

I think the fact that I saw "The Parent Trap" tonight for the first time since about third grade set off a total state of regression for me. It's really funny, actually. At least I'm finding it so. Remember those "Now" CDs? It was like "Now That's What I Call Music" or something officially, but it was just Now. I guess they still make them... my sister bought Now 372 or something not too long ago. So yeah, I know they still make them. But I basically just looked up a bunch of them, and I'm going through this site my sister showed me awhile ago where you can listen to songs without actually downloading them, trying to find the songs I remember from them. Right now it's "I Love Candy" by Aaron Carter. Yep, I realize I'm ridiculous. I'm currently in my dark, soundproof room without windows regressing into my childhood. I never liked Aaron Carter all that much, actually. That was my sister's thing. She was obsessed with him. Pre-Kenny Chesney, I guess. I'm gonig to be totally honest, I like Kenny better.

"It's My Life" by Bon Jovi was on Now 5? My sister had that CD. I totally don't remember this being on it. Liked this song, don't remember it being on the CD. My dad hated that CD... I think he liked the song, though. Hmm... it's late. 12:34. Ha! Totally didn't realize that until after I typed it, but it's 1234. I wonder if you get to make a wish when it's 12:34? I doubt it, but I'm asking my sister when she comes upstairs anyway. If for no other reason, just to be annoying. It's suppossed to be up to the younger sibling to be the annoying one, but occasionally I take on the responsibility myself. I like to defy the stereotypes. Who says the older one can't be painstakingly annoying from time to time? Besides, it's fun. And my sister is really funny when she's annoyed... which totally isn't my fault.

Okay, for the record, I'm totally not listening to "Lucky" by Britney Spears. It never happened. I also didn't used to love this song when it came out. Wasn't me. I've determined my better blog posts happen after midnight. Everything makes sense late at night, and it's much easier to be completely random. Oh, God. I totally don't still know this entire song... this is sad.

Ooh, the verdict has been reached. You don't get to make a wish at 12:34. Well, according to my sister, you can, but it probably won't do you any good. Great. That's no fun. You know, half of this fad-y music stuff I never really cared about. My sister did, some of my friends did, I really didn't care. Tee hee. Remember S Club 7? I liked their one song, but one of my friends was rather obsessed. Two of my friends, actually. One of which now lives in Wales. I've seen her once since she moved... in... fifth grade? And their entire street. Which also happens to my my street, but she lives on the other end of it, so I didn't hang out with that group all that much. I don't think much of that paragraph made sense, so I'm starting a new one.

It's actually surprising me how few of these songs I actually remember. I had a couple of the CDs. Hmm... well, there's Nickelback. "How You Remind Me" was on Now 10. How about now 11? I had that CD... I really liked it. I lost all my CDs in sixth grade... left them at my friend's house, never got them back. Let's see if I still like that CD. So far the answer is a resounding no. Why did I like this again? Remind me? My taste in music changed fairly dramatically since elementary school. Oh, I remember this song. Vanessa Carlton. Used to have one of her CDs too. I liked it, actually. And the possibility that I still would exist. Okay, some of this CD is tolerable.

I still can't believe the Dixie Chicks are on it. Their version of "Landslide." Used to love that song. In all honesty, I think I still do. It's so pretty. And I know the entire country music-listening community is suppossed to hate the Dixie Chicks, and I'm definately part of that community, but I definately don't hate them. Their old stuff is amazing, and their new stuff is also really good, at least I think so. Natalie Maines is sort of annoying, sort of really annoying, actually, but her voice is amazing, and that's really the only thing that should matter. I mean, it's music. Get all the political junk out of there. Nobody cares. Well, nobody should care.

Hmm, guess I gave up on the Now thing. Now (heh, no pun intended) I'm listening to "Cowboy Take Me Away." I guess I got off on a Dixie Chicks kick. I have "Wide Open Spaces" on my iPod, actually. It was my mom's CD, she bought it when they were still popular. And I temporarily hijacked it. But I actually did give it back. I tend to "forget" with CDs... although it doesn't matter now that I have my iPod, I don't listen to them much, anyway. I actually think I returned all the CDs I stole off of my family members... Good for me.

Mmkay, now I'm back to Vanessa Carlton. "Ordinary Day." Always liked the song, but I'm wishing I didn't remember an interpretive roller blading show my sister and I put on to it... That was horrible. I wish my parents had video taped it, actually. I would watch it for entertainment, and to reaffirm how stupid I was when I was little. Actually, technically it was roller skating I think. My grandma bought my sister and I those roller skates that looked like tennis shoes, but they had wheels attached to the bottom... my sister wanted the shoes that actually had wheels in them, but she got us these instead... we skated with them in my basement a lot... that was fun. But then, of course, we had the brilliant idea to put on a show for my parents, and I think my grandma might have been there, too... and it went downhill from there.

Ha, then there was the time my sister, my friend and I decided to come up with a dance to "That's How I Beat Shaq" by Aaron Carter... during my sister's Aaron Carter phase. Her idea. Actually, it might have been my friends... it definately wasn't mine, that's all I know. I believe I was Aaron. Oh yes. One of the few bizarre attempts to make me look like a guy... and probably the second most successful. Anyway, my sister and my friend were the dancers... they actually made up some kind of dance and did it on either side of me while I pretended to be Aaron Carter and tried not to laugh. Another thing I wish my parents would have video taped. This was on vacation. On a houseboat, actually, in the middle of a random lake in the middle of Tennessee. I don't know how many years ago... quite a few.

Holy heck, it's 1:30. When did that happen? How long is this post? I'm going to venture a guess and say not that much longer than most of my rambling blog posts... I think I'm going to go to bed now. That would probably be a good plan. Hey, Lola comes back tomorrow! Just thought of that. Actually, technically today. I get incredibly confused as to what day it is after midnight... so I'm going to give up.

My sister liked the show for awhile, but she was really little and my parents didn't like her watching it... between her and some of my friends I saw it a couple of times, but never really got into it.
