SYTYC freaking Dance show report and my Crotchety 43 year old Comments

Decent show last night, nothing earth shattering, but still fairly entertaining. A few ill-advised numbers, a couple of flat out fumbles on the dancers part and a number so hot, I had to go dive in the pool.

What was good:
-Sara and Danny's Argentine Tango was fantastic just based on Danny's lines alone. The guy is an absolute freak of a technical dancer and can pirouette himself into oblivion. He was so fantastic that it didn't bother me that he didn't look comfortable dancing with a girl. Mary and Nigel didn't like the number, but whatever, seeing danny uncork like this is a pleasure....good stuff.

-I dug the dickens out of Dominic and Lauren's Rumba (not really a rumba..in the techinical sense, but whatever) it was good and the chemistry between the two of them was HOT!! They kissed at the end and it looked spontaneous...that is awesome. I really thing that Dominic might have saved himself this week now that the judges have no say in who goes home (or do they...).

-I'm definately NOT a big fan of Sabra's by any stretch of the imagination, but the quickstep that Pasha and Sabra did was the best partnered dance number of the night and maybe the whole season. The Judges liked it too.

What was just okay:
- I'm not a sucker like most of America, but I am a Mia Michaels fan and the Billy Porter number "Time" was an emotional tribute to her dad. That being said, the difficuly level of the piece was not on a par with the better numbers on the show and that knocks Neil and Lacy down a notch for me. They executed well, but it just was kind of there (to quote randy jackson). I also don't like when they try to tug at your heartstrings like this...it's what they call in show business "A cheap pop". Read into that what you will.

-Neil really saved the Latin Jazz number "Acid" for me. Lacey just wasn't into it and if Neil wasn't giving that extra effort, it would have fallen completely flat. I think Neil has a chance to win the whole mcgillucutty.

What wasn't very good at all:
- I want to get this out front...I am not a fan of Krumping, and the fact that there is a "krump" choreographer, insults my intelligence a little. Dominic looked great, but Lauren was definately out of sync with what was supposed to be happening in that number. The whole thing didn't work for me, from front to back.

-The Showtune number that Sabra and Pasha did (would they be Sasha together in a Brangelina kind of way?) was not good at all, I really felt both dancers didn't sell the dancing right and I was bored with the number.

-Normally Shane Sparks is one of my favorite choreographers on the show, but holy schnikeys, Danny and Sara's version of "Push it" was the worst I've seen on the show since Hok's waltz. Dang....it was just dreadful, right down to those awful costumes.

I also promised you comments, so here they are...
- Adam Shenkman is funny with the comments, but I felt like he wasn't critical enough, I prefer Mia and or Wade sitting in the chair.
- Does Mary ever shut her mouth? I mean seriously, I think she literally has it agape all the time, because her lips can't close all the way over those caps...
- I hope Wade Robson's absence this week had nothing to do with the anti-war piece last week....
- How come we haven't seen Brian Friedman or Dan Karaty much this year, but we have had tons Mandy Moore, Tyce D'Orio and that Jean Marc Genereaux instead of Ron Martez for the latin numbers? Just askin.
-Lacey is really on my last nerve with her flirty horsecrap

My Rankings:
1. Neil
2. Sabra
3. Sara
4. Pasha
5. Danny
6. Lacey
7. Lauren
8. Dominic

Well that's it for today....take it easy everyone...
Mike

Well you know I agree on most of this...except the Sara part...
I am glad I am not the only one who felt that way about Mia Michael's dance. And I hope Lauren and Dominic stay around simply because I want to see what happens next. Now I would say that the kiss was spontaneous, but neither of them really looked embarassed, so I would say that they have certainly kissed before...
