I stayed up late watching the new Doctor Who…

Wow.  There is absolutely no organization whatsoever to my thoughts on this episode.

Turn Left.

I’m not going to lie, I had read some comments/recaps after watching and a lot of people made mention of the fact that so many questions were answered.  Um…I didn’t get it.  I don’t get what questions were answered.

I get the thing on her back.  Pompeii Girl or one of the strange ass Pompeii people had mentioned her having something on her back.  But I wonder, has it always been there?  I’m confused by that now.

Other than that, I absolutely loved this episode!  It sort of reminded me of the movie It’s A Wonderful Life, instead of finding out what the world would have been like if Donna hadn’t been born we see what would have happened if she’d turned right instead of left.  Which in a way was the same thing.

I loved how Donna didn’t seem as compassionate without the Doctor.  She seemed slightly self centered and still missing the bigger picture.  Even her relationship with her dear old gramps seemed a bit strained.

Okay time for it….

ROSE!!!  I was so happy to see her and I was just amazed at how much she’d changed.  Then again why wouldn’t she change?  She’s been heartbroken, sucked across a universe, gotten older and grew up a little.  But it was refreshing to see a bit of the old happy Rose slip out a few times while she was talking to Donna.  I loved the part where she showed Donna the TARDIS, the smile on Rose’s face was priceless.  I also loved that Rose didn’t seem jealous or upset that Ten was traveling with someone new.  She’d accepted that he’d moved on.

I get the feeling that Rose has been doing a bit of traveling herself.  As she makes the comment to UNIT that it’s dangerous for anyone to know her name.  Reminded me of the Doctor and how no one knows his name.

Did anyone else cry when Donna sacrificed herself to make her other self turn left?  I felt a bit of Father’s Day going on there.  And Rose coming to lean over Donna, whispering in her ear.  I really thought she was saying the Doctor’s name.   It never occurred to me that she was saying Bad Wolf.  Hey it was very late when I watched it and I was nursing an extreme headache.

Time to talk about Ten now.  It was nice to see him happy and exploring with Donna, eating and drinking strange things on the planet they were visiting.  Just hanging out.  That’s what I’ve loved about this season, we get to see a lot more of the relaxed Doctor.  It’s been nice. 

How heartbreaking was it to see that covered body on a gurney?  The hand slipping out from beneath, a sonic screwdriver falling out?  I shed a tear.  But like Donna I was so happy to see Ten when he came to find Donna.  And her hug seemed to surprise him and delight him a bit. 

Then for the look that should win that man an Oscar.  As Donna is explaining her experience and mentioned the woman, you can see Ten already perked up.  “What did she look like?”  Blonde.  “What was her name?  What was her name?”  The second she said Bad Wolf he was up and out!  I thought it was a great touch to see everything with Bad Wolf written on it.  And the TARDIS!  Bad Wolf all over it!

Sorry for the skippy and choppy recap here but I was just amazed by how everything was put together.  This is one I’ll probably have to watch again.  Just because it was so much info.  What killed me was that you saw everyone else died, Martha, Sarah Jane and I’m assuming her teenage pals, the Torchwood folks. 

Talking about Rose again, she’s adopted a lot of the Doctor’s I want to call it self esteem boosters, but did you notice how she also told Donna she was brilliant?  And then even mentions that Ten thinks she’s brilliant.  She’s even started saying, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”  God I love Rose.  I’m eager to see her with Ten again.
