Summer Recommendations?
In the last few years, the networks have tried really hard not to completely suck during the summer months. We've had new reality show upon new reality show. Only a few brave cable networks put on new dramas during these bleak months of television watching. By the end of the summer, we're all so starved for something new that when early starters like Prison Break start, they're immediately smash-hits.
Traditionally, I used the summer months to catch up on conflicting shows. Now, with all the new programming, this isn't possible. Therefore, I'm looking for suggestions. What shows should I take up over the summer? What summer show should I chance watching?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

The one show I always associate with summer is Big Brother and I hate Big Brother!
I'll probably take your advice on skipping the SYTYCD auditions as that's what turned me off the show last year (and most shows of that ilk). As for the Closer? I've started seeing repeats of that and it's in it's *third* season? Which network carries it? Remember, I'm Canadian!

Hee, I love BB but it's definitely complete mind-wasting trash.
The Closer comes on TNT in the States, no idea if it's the same in Canada. The third season starts Monday, June 13 at 9 pm EST. TNT is usually pretty good about running marathons so they might have one before the premiere, at least some of the season two episodes. Also, the first two seasons are already out in DVD.

Are you 100% opposed to
Are you 100% opposed to reality TV? Because So You Think You Can Dance is actually really good. Since dance isn't a high-profile field, the contestants are a lot less famewhore-ish and are deeply dedicated to their dancing. They've been doing it since they were children so they're not just trying to get on TV. Well, some of the auditioners are but if you skip those rounds and stop watching at the top 20, that's when it starts getting really good.
If you're looking for non-reality, The Closer will air its third season this summer. It's mostly a procedural so it's not super necessary to catch up on the previous seasons to know what's going on, but I recommend watching them simply because the show is so awesome. The cases are compelling, Kyra Sedgwick is brilliant as Brenda and the supporting cast is delightfully quirky.
