That's it for Drive

Bye Nathan!

After finally getting copies of the last two Drive episode, I've managed to post the recaps for the last two episodes. What really sucked -- these episodes were awesome.

I find that television shows that make it past the 13 episode original order have some defining moment, an episode that will be held up seasons later as the best a show has to offer. "Uncertainty Principle" was the defining eppesode for Numb3rs. Two seasons later, even after such spectacles as "One Hour, "Backscatter" and "The Janus List" people still hold this eppesode up as everythin the show could do. House was a bit late with "Three Stories" but it had Hugh Laurie to carry them through. Even Prison Break and Lost, which I've tried following, really, had amazing pilots that really carried the show for the last couple of seasons.

For Drive, I think episode 6, "Rear View" would've done it but, unfortunately, it was cancelled before it aired. (Ironically, Drive has made history, as it's Emmy nomination comes from an episode that aired only online. ) As it was produced by many members of the Firefly team (another show ruined by Fox's lack of support and quick draw on the cancellation) , it had the best elements of Firefly, a flawed hero, unforeseen twists, and a plethora of unique characters.

So, this is the end of Drive, and unless Tim Minear gives another 100 interviews, we'll never know how it would've turned out.
