1980's Fashion Fads DiscussionSubmitted by Cara on Mon, 2007-04-09 11:23. Last Login: Fri Nov 23 2007 15:18 GMT |
For you Fashion Fans out there Famesters has a home for you. Today will start off with an easy topic. Transition is always difficult, but I have faith. Let us discuss all things 80’s trends. Skinny jeans and slouch boots are a hot commodity…. Now. But how long will the euphoria of the side ponytail last? You think we would have learned our lesson the first time around. Share your quandaries, objections or deep affections here. Personally I hate the trend. I wasn't a fan of anything from the decade fashion-wise. What further bothers me is that the looks aren't even a reinvention of fads....its more like a carbon copy. Do you love the look or loath it?

Longer length Ts and tank tops anyday

Longer length Ts and tank tops rock. I am in heaven there. Stripes are always good too. And I am happy Adidas superstar shoes are still in style---not that it would stop me! I can't stand the plasticky beads and earrings and bracelets that are back. You know, the ones in all solid colors or polkadots? BLECH!
I am glad that I am not alone on this one!

I agree the long tops are my new best friend. The fitted look works best, but the skinny jeans are like a plague. No one really wants to be a part of it...yet it shows up anyway. I am not saying they don't look good on some people, but the limits of the cut make it impossible for your normal everday humans to squeeze into. You have to be the perfect shape for it. Call me a freak, but I would welcome the 90's trends. Anything is better than seeing slouchy boots. But I agree X-Tina is rocking in "Candy Man." But I just don't see it catching on totally.
i totally agree on the long

i totally agree on the long tanks and tunics! but i am sad that i can't find jeans with a bit of flare to the legs...everything is 'skinny this and skinny that". i think pickinhg and choosing from the 80's era is okay, but becomming immersed in the crappy fashion and crazy hair trends is something that i don't want to revisit anytime soon...just wait until the 90's are back....

OH no...what if Girbauds and Cross Colors come back from the 90's? Or those giant africa necklaces and condoms ala Left Eye? I wouldn't mind the baggy styles since it hides the cheeseburger from the night before... =)

While I don't love skinny jeans, please God, do not allow the pleated baggies to re-emerge, they were a plague. I have enjoyed seeing the bright colors (pinks and greens) together again, and also appreciate everyone not walking around with slogans pasted on their chests constantly.

Skinny jeans might be harsh on the size 10+s and yes my bum does look big in them. I'm not, however, longing for the return of the lazy and nondescript look of the baggy pants. I love the self expression of people walking around with slogan t-shirts though!

I think the eighties was a horrible era of fashion. I will never wear skinny jeans. Personally, I like flared jeans. I think the whole, spandex with a baggy t-shirt fad, was a disaster. What were they thinking back then with that huge hair? It grosses me out. As you can tell, I hated the eighties fashion era.

I think the fashion and beauty tips are very much related to each other.

That's exactly where a Fashion fan would love to be, I love wearing nice clothes, but I always face difficulty finding good shoes.
Short time ago while surfing the net I found good Laarzen Kopen where designing is a passion& beauty is the main title.
There you can find beautiful durable & comfortable shoes of different designs.

$.02 on '80's fashion
Hmmm 80's fashion.... I agree, probably didn't need to be experienced twice.
I think there have been a few improvements this time around, though. I'm fond of the longer length Ts, metallic accessories, etc. Could still live w/out skinny jeans... leave me my flares or bootcuts.
The big question is how long until '90's fashion comes back? Or will something older take hold first- i.e. the '40's and '50s (think Xtina's version of "Candyman")?
