Chloe may like the "mom jeans" but I gag a little at the thought of wearing them. I understand the pooch masking effect. I get the make-shift corset advantage. Yet...I still say "don't." But it is only going to get worse! The 70's jean is making a comeback in a big way. The sky high waist with a straight leg cut is going to be hot. "Made in Heaven" is already cranking out the denim duds. How does everyone feel about the high waist jean? What about the new black satin corset over a white top trend?

I couldn't agree more. I am not a fan of the "Mom Jeans" either. I am a happy size 12 and I look hideous in them. Not to mention so uncomfortable. Could you image some curvy figure like....Jennifer Lopez or Beyonce wear high waists?!?! Ugh! I loke the corset over the white top, but again one must have the proper figure to carry it off.
why high or low

I just don't undertand why we either have to choose low waist or high waist why can't they just make jeans at the waist. You either have your butt crack hanging out or look like you have a saggy butt. I would love to find a jean for a normal sized woman that really fits.

I agree 100%!!! Why is it so hard to find a nice fitting, mid-waisted jean?? Thank God for Old Navy or I wouldn't own any jeans that fit right!

Not many companies are making their jeans in the US and quality control just means that the zipper/buttons work and stitches are good. Unless you spend a lot of money for a pair made in the US/Italy or some other place where they care about the quality you'll need to keep trying on pair after pair to find ones that fit well first fit. But remember that jeans will eventually conform to your body especially each time you put them on after they get washed. Aside from having as many pairs of jeans i love having designer sunglasses to match what im wearing day or night.
No no no.

Did any one else see those horrible pleated mom jeans that Jessica Simpson wore the other day? Sooo sooo sooo unflattering. Does she not own a mirror? I refuse to wear pants that go above my bellybutton!

I can't say i'm that keen on high waisters. They make my waist look tiny and not in a healthy way.
I have to keep em skinny or straight legged with a low waist. I dont care what is coming into fashion. I'd rather look good than like an idiot.

chloe sevigny does a vice dos and don'ts bit on vbs tv where she sings the praises of high waisted pants. her reason? she has a pooch -- and apparently thinks the high waist keeps it contained. in my personal experience (staring at people), the high waist accentuates any little bit of extra we ladies may have in that area to the effect of giving us a gunt-like protrusion. i will pass, thank you.
*edited to add that i just read the initial post and noticed the chloe reference. i'm a turd. sorry.*
I love it!

The gunt! Hilarious! I could agree more. I feel like a kangaroo in them. The fact that it makes my ass look like you could park a Buick on it doesn't help either!

Speaking of gunts...how about the bamf...you know you see someone walking from behind, they look to be a normal size but then they turn to the side and it's like, "BAMF" in your face muffin-top and bottom!

Chloe Sevigny has no right to tell anyone what is a do or don't. She usually looks like a freaking garbage woman, only with less class.
Who comes up with these fashions!?

Hey Ladies,
I just wanted to join the thread and let you know your thoughts totally cracked me up. I def think that high waisted jeans are a bit of a scary look unless you have the body of a super model. That is a look i def won't be trying to rock. And as for the corset over a top or a tank over a tee, I agree, just choose one shirt and as Tim Gunn says, "Make it work."
LOL

Mom jeans vs. corset over tee
While "Mom Jeans", or "Mom Pants" as we should maybe start calling them, can be the most unflattering things EVER, they do have their advantages. Beware of the baggy butt is all I can advise. And if you really do have a poochy belly, they are only going to accentuate it. Once again, we have a new trend meant for size 0's. The corset over the plain white t-shirt is annoying. It can look somewhat cute on the right person, but overall I say NO! And what is with the spaghetti strap tanks on top of the plain tee's? Um, NO! That was ok back in middle school when your boobs were too awkward to go without the undershirt, but come on. Either wear the tank, or wear the shirt. You can't have the best of both worlds.
