Let's give some love to the best post-nuclear drama on TV! Okay, fine, it's the only post-nuclear drama on TV, but that doesn't make it any less awesome, right? Some thoughts on tonight's episode:

This episode = FTW! \o/ Best episode so far, IMO.

- Is the Hawkins backstory true? The flashbacks and Hawkins' reaction at realizing who The Old Man is would indicate yes but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a big switcheroo before the season finale. I love that Lennie James continues to play Hawkins as ambiguous.

- I gasped and shrieked "Holy shit!" when Hawkins shot the FBI informant. I don't know why it took me by such surprise, because I knew he must've had to do something major to earn the cell's trust, but it still shocked the hell out of me. Well played, show.

- After being so smart for most of the episode, Jake got pwned by a paper clip. *sigh* But I still love him, especially his "I think I'm going to have a heart attack" look when Hawkins showed him the bomb. Hee.

- Mea culpa. April really is dead. Although, I had to *facepalm* at the absurdity that her grave would already have a personalized headstone. I mean, give me a friggin' break. Sometimes this show does things SO well, and sometimes it...doesn't.

- Poor emo!Alison. She just needs to own her badassery and the fact that she is definitely her father's daughter. I loved that she and Emily bonded over their screwed up families. Heh.

- Mimi confiding in the chicken cracked me up. Alicia Coppola is so friggin' awesome. And I thought the scene with Mimi's signing speech to Bonnie was really sweet and touching. AC and Shoshannah Stern both did fantastic jobs.

- I really miss Heather and Stanley. Not saying that their absences made the episode any less awesome. I just felt the need to say it.

- Only four episodes left. That'd better be only four episodes left this season, CBS. Ahem.

Great episode

I quite enjoyed the episode...I agree, Hawkins is still morally ambiguous, but my hunch is that the flashbacks were a way to show us that he is actually telling the truth. That they're objective, in a sense. I would love, love, LOVE to be wrong, because that would be so cool.

I'm glad that Teeth screwed up and let Hawkins get out of the handcuffs. He's so smart and capable that he's in danger of becoming a Mary Sue. It's good to see him screw up. And DAMN, he is so freaking hot, it's not funny.

I felt sort of bad for Emily and her failed school experiment, but really, she should have set up a "school" for teaching practical shit. It's too soon to try and get education up and running again, when the older kids are perfectly capable of helping out with survival. It probably would have been better with the little kids...they need something to do, and it would give the parents time to focus on doing important crap.

Poor Alison...that last scene with Darcy was so sad. Poor baby, I just wanted to pet her.

Great episode...they are really doing a great job making this show dark and at least semi-realistic.

I'm going to papercut you ferociously.

What? What gives? I don't want it to be true.

Sorry for the vagueness, but I didn't want to give it away.

Ausiello at TV Guide is reporting that Jericho has been canceled, and an insider who talks to creator Carol Barbee got a message from her today that the show has been canceled. No official word from CBS until tomorrow but I think it's safe to say that this show is dead. :(

Nuts Campaign

Have y'all been following the "NUTS" campaign? The best links to catch up on it are here and here, and there are news and blog stories about it all over the place. Over 20,000 pounds of nuts delivered to the CBS offices, y'all. I'm cynical when it comes to save the show campaigns but I have to admit that I've been really impressed by this one. I don't think it's going to get CBS to reverse its decision or another network to pick it up, but I do think there's a good chance of a wrap-up movie getting made. The whole thing is pretty awesome.

Jericho renewed?

Kristin at E! and Ausiello at TV Guide are both reporting that it looks like CBS will be bringing Jericho back for an 8 episode run at midseason. No confirmation yet but with both of them reporting it, the odds seem pretty good.

Looks like those 40,000 pounds of nuts sent to CBS may have worked.

Oh, bother. It's quite annoying how the link tag in the first part of a post will screw up the recent comments page. Adding this pointless blather to fix things. Anyway, It's confirmed. Only 7 episodes (for now) but it's still v.v. exciting. HOORAY!

Renewed Information

Congratulations, obsessive "Jericho" fans -- you have officially broken CBS. The "canceled" show has been quickly resurrected and will be back in 2008, the network announced late yesterday. But CBS still needs your help.

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, posted an open letter to fans announcing the decision and imploring them to now focus their attention on bringing more viewers to the show, saying, "We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks." Doesn't CBS have a marketing department for that?

The show's fans had bombarded CBS offices with peanuts (a reference only fans of the show would get) as a form of protest. The tactic worked so well, Tassler closed her letter with, "Please stop sending us nuts :)"TMZ"
