History Lesson

The sad part is, if Quebec ever read about their own history and what they'd get to leave with, if they did leave -- we'd never hear a peep out of them again.
This is a province that doesn't even know the context of their own motto for heaven's sake!
Insult?

I honestly do not know if this is an insult or not? I know that for one thing that it would probably be pointless to seperate (hey, I'm not old enough to vote on referudum... so no blaming here alright?) BUT we might be able to support ourselves... I mean, we're the second largest population annnd much American Investors, not to mention our awesome Hydro. Sorry, I had to defend my own province. Though I do consent that we have been asses, but thats only because the english were crushing our little french pride during the 1700-1800ish time.
ANYWAYS... very sorry for going off on a tangent! :)
Maple Syrup

It's okay. At least with me. This is Spy's poll, after all...
But if Quebec seperates, the little Atlantic Canadian provinces will be all alone...and that would be upsetting. On account of, I'm Atlantic Canadian. And where would the rest of the country get the awesome maple syrup? (Don't tell me any maple syrup is beter than Nova Scotia/New Brunswick maple syrup, 'cause it's not!)
Anyway, I had a point somewhere...ah, yes. If Quebec seperates, they divide Canada. And what would Quebec do as its own country? I'd have to start a motion to bring back Acadia, too. Because I'm Acadian.
I aplogize for this tangent, too...I just read the paper. It was very depressing.
None intended at all!

No insult intended at all! Quebec's totally my favourite province! I love going there on vacation. Please, all my vitriol for anything Canadian gets sent in the direction of the Conservative party! I was just stating the legal perspective. I could care less if they separate, although, I've always secretly suspected BC would go first. (Although, English Canada has always been an ass towards French rights.) I was just pointing out that all international treaties say Quebec can only leave with what they brought in. Which equals to about 1/10 of the actual province. It also denies all rights to Canadian currency and military. Also, according to all treaties, they cannot receive help from France as France specifically signed away any responsibility for all future nationhood when it comes to Quebec way back in the 18th century. Ironically, the province that legally -- is most likely to separate, and even has a clause to separate - Manitoba.
Also, the context of the motto has nothing to do with remembering Quebec's freedom. It's actually a rather jingoistic quotation I'm always surprised Quebec hasn't changed.

Voted!! I find it hard to believe that there are only 2 Australians on Famesters. Surely there are more dedicated TV addicts than that in Oz!! I'll have to do some recruiting over here!!

Poll bump.
*bump* Anyone else want to vote?
